Common Scams to avoid in Chiang Mai

Common Scams to avoid in Chiang Mai

1. Tuktuk and Songtaew Scams (Most but not all)
Beware if they wave you down. Prices will normally start from 100Baht to many hundred baht depending on your destination. For the same destination, you can get a ride on the Grab app for probably about 20%-200% cheaper. If you are on a Tuktuk or Red Songtaew to some “Happy ending places”. They will make excuses to tell you that the place you intend to go is not good or not open. Then they will tell you that they can bring you to better places. This is where the danger begins, they will try all sorts of ways to get you to shops where they can get very lucrative commission. Damages will be at the expenses of Victims who most will choose to pay and let it go.
2. Shops with sexy ladies sitting outside of shop
Due to sensitivity, we shall not disclosed what kind of establishments these are. Legit singing shops normally don’t have to resort to luring you in with stretch of sexy girls in miniskirts. These are shops where once you are in, the only way out is to pay school fee to learn your lesson. Damages will be as low as 10k baht to 100k over baht depending whether tuktuk is involved to share this piece of cake.
3. This is not a scam, but just an advice for you
Some massage shops along infamous Loi Kroh or basically any massage shops with pretty girls. Please know what you are looking for and at what price you are willing to pay. If you are in the mood, additional HJ will cost 1k baht or some not so pretty 500Baht. Once they get you into the mood, partial or full undressing will cost you another 1k baht, additional 500Baht if you decide to top up for a BJ. FJ may be in the menu at a top up too… Please do your math for how much you are willing to pay for.
4. Latest Scam!! Scammer KTVs on the loose!!
They will free their Girls to popular nightlifes to bait customers especially tourist.. They will approach You to let you think you are handsome, and then suggest to continue the night to drink somewhere else.. that’s when most guys can’t resist and took the bait. Brought to their KTV and squeeze your pocket dry, that’s when you know you are scammed but too late.
5. Outcall Danger!!
– Engage Outcall with risk of stolen cash and valuables. – Real person different from fake photos or Ladyboys – Always engage services from reputable shops for ease of mind. – Tip! Shops with steady customer flow won’t do outcall.
